Across the world our relationship with work has changed.

Levels of disengagement have never been so high. Disengagement fundamentally means that people don’t care about the business / organisation that they work for.

We could discuss why this should be but I am not going to. I am just going to ask you to imagine your team and your place of work and just imagine how different your world would be if, instead of working for you being something your team had to do, it was something that they wanted to do.

When people want to do something they are internally motivated and internal motivation trumps external motivation (money / reward / fear) every day of the week.

What if your people could wake up every day excited because they get to come in and do something that is enriching for their soul as well as their pocket? Come in to an environment where they could have fun, be with their mates and where they could grow and learn and be their best?

How different would your world be? How different would their world be? And how different might the world of the shareholders, suppliers, customers and stakeholders of your business be?

That is the role of you, as a leader. In a nutshell.
