Top Trumps

I have been thinking about that famous Peter Drucker quote that said “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.”  I am sure you have heard it before.

I am also reading the very excellent ‘Scaling Culture’ by Ron Lovett and reflecting upon all of the successful businesses I have managed and the teams I have coached, the most successful have always been those where the culture has been strong and one of high performance.

The worst have had strong cultures but not high performance cultures.

If culture trumps everything else. What does your hand look like?

Your business will have a culture, whether you know it and recognise it or not and whether you have designed it or defaulted to it. In fact if you haven’t consciously designed it and nurtured it you will have unconsciously defaulted to something that has evolved unintentionally, and the chances are it wont be a culture that works for you.

So the question for you this week is.

• Is your culture designed and working for you or something you have picked up along the way, like an unpleasant disease?

3. Write down your answers in detail.
