The quickest of fixes

We live in a world dominated by speed and instant gratification. Right now we have the quickest of quick fixes available at our fingertips. The answer to virtually every question is instantly available via AI and it is easy to be seduced by the availability of instant answers to even very complex questions.

Setting aside the veracity of those answers for the moment. This can spell danger for those running businesses. Running a business is, and always will be a performance sport.

Knowing how to bend it like Beckham is very different to being able to bend it like Beckham. There is very little reward for the knowledge, which can be instant but the ability to execute takes considerable time and carries a significant promise of reward.

A successful business is a result of doing the right things in sufficient quantities over a long enough period of time. Closer examination always shows that it takes a long time to become an overnight success and it is always rooted in action.

Powerful though it may be don’t be seduced by the hype around AI. It may indeed be part of the answer but it is far from the answer. The best companies in the world are simply those that execute better than the others.

So the questions for today are:

• What is the problem you solve for your customer?
• What is the best solution?
• What makes you the best solution provider?
• What percentage of the time do you execute faultlessly (according to your customer)?
