Scaling Up Pivots
Scaling a business from small to large is notoriously difficult, particularly if you haven’t done it before. Even more so if you haven’t been part of a larger business or managed one.
One of the reasons is that with scale, everything changes, and I mean everything. So in order to promote and maintain growth we, as leaders, first have to change and change is hard but not as hard as knowing what to change, and when and by how much and in what order.
There is no instruction book. Businesses are machines, created for a purpose and powered by human potential. Because of that one of the things that absolutely has to scale so that the business can scale is the leadership ability available to the business.
Now fortunately leadership ability can be learned, it can be taught, and it is best developed through coaching.
So the question for you this week is.
- Where did I learn my craft as a leader? Did I study world class leaders as I was on my journey? Who are the people I am modelling myself on, consciously or unconsciously? Are they fit for purpose in the 2020’s?
To do:
- Try to honestly answer the question above, by yourself.
- Assess the quality and the amount of leadership development you have had.
- Ask yourself how much deliberate practice (practice designed specifically to help you get better) you have put in to refine your craft.
- Deliberate practice depends upon real time feedback, what is the quality of the real time leadership feedback you are receiving?
Many successful business owners eventually hit a wall on growth and struggle to climb it alone. When you work with me you get a fresh perspective, a solid plan, and customised coaching so you can grow and scale your business safely and at speed.
