Following last week’s killer question I wanted to share another with you from the same onboarding process. It goes like this. How would you rate the level of communication in your business?

Now often when answering it people get the wrong end of the stick, which will tell us something, and they might reply ‘Oh everyone gets on pretty well. They are all friendly and we often go out to the pub together’. That is fine, but what the question is really asking is, how well does information flow through your business? Does everyone know what they need to know in advance of them needing to know it? For example, do people know when a process or a priority has changed? Or when we have acquired a new customer? It is very difficult to feel you belong to a business when you feel as though you are always playing catch up with the important information, and of course, if we don’t feel we belong our engagement levels are going to be low, as are our levels of loyalty and being bothered. So here’s a second chance. On a scale of 0 to 10 where 0 is low and 10 is perfect how would you rate the level of communication in your business? And here’s a tip. Go ask people or better still carry out some kind of a survey. You are I the worst position to judge this. Ask the people who will know.
