Inflation

You don’t need me to tell you that inflation is with us right now.

What you may not realise is that the last time we had inflation of this sort of magnitude was back in the 1970s. What that means is that there are very few people who have any experience of leading a business through times of inflation. That in turn means that leaders are having to learn how to do it on the hoof and inflation is a much more complex thing than you might at first think. The interrelationships are complex and the choices are difficult to make.

The effects of inflation will be very different for different businesses and different people. It is easy to generalise but foolish to try to do so. Each business, each individual, each nation will be impacted differently. Some will even benefit. In some ways the state may benefit most of all by the same thing that we assume to be a scourge.

As a leader, the question is how do you react best?

To do:

1. Reflect on how deep your understanding of the current situation is?
2. How much do you understand what is happening ,what your countermeasures might be and what their consequences, both positive and negative might also be.
3. What are you doing to prepare yourself with the knowledge that you need?
4. How can you find an experienced guide to help you navigate what are, to you, foreign and unexplored waters?
