Information

My motorbike has an associated app which means that it stores all sorts of information that I can access when I get back home. Start time, top speed, lean angle, average speed acceleration and deceleration g force.  Loads of information. It got me thinking about the information we have or don’t have in our businesses. I am no accountant but I love information, but only as long as it is useful.

The motorbike app provides information which is fascinating but not much use. For a start it is retrospective, and so out of date when I look at it. Because every ride is different, I can’t use the information to try to improve. The speedometer on the other hand provides something more than information. It provides intelligence, as does my vision and sense of balance. They all allow me to adapt and improve in real time, hopefully to keep me both fast and safe. For information to be really useful, it has to be instantly available, in real time, to the actors in the situation so that they can optimise their performance not produced monthly in arrears by the bean counters in a darkened room and then used as a stick to beat the actors up. It is worth considering how you use your information.

Many successful business owners eventually hit a wall on growth and struggle to climb it alone. When you work with me you get a fresh perspective, a solid plan, and customised coaching so you can grow and scale your business safely and at speed.
