Momentum

Momentum is precious to life and to business. If you remember your school days physics momentum is described as mass multiplied by velocity. The more momentum an object has the harder it is to stop.

In ‘growing the business leader to grow the business’ momentum is a superpower. In this case, the mass of the business leader refers to her knowledge and understanding of the game of business and of people. It is essential and not too difficult to increase mass. We often refer to an influential person as having ‘Gravitas’ or weight. Velocity refers to action: how the leader applies and uses that knowledge. Knowledge in and of itself, without the proper application of that knowledge is ineffective and will not build any momentum. As for the business, mass can be the result of the business model and the strategies the business uses while velocity is generated by the successful execution of those strategies. Remember the very best businesses in the world simply out execute all the others. The resultant momentum is what makes a business unstoppable.
