Double D Spells Success

Desire and Discipline are the two most necessary attributes for success I am realising in my third decade of coaching successful people.

‘The man on the top of the mountain didn’t fall there’. The assertion that people who succeed are lucky is a myth, and excuse, a lie.

People do not become successful simply because they are lucky. Which is not to say that luck doesn’t play a part. People who are successful are successful because they wanted it and were prepared to do what was necessary to achieve success.

Which is where discipline comes in. the successful athlete is the one that was prepared to forgo their Christmas lunch with the family in order to continue their training. The successful dieter was the one who was prepared to limit their calorie intake to lose weight. The successful leader was the one who was prepared to constantly develop and to learn.

Without desire we have no direction, no will and without discipline we have no momentum, no ability to achieve.

Think about the make up of your team, including yourself.

So the questions for today are:

• How would you rate your DD score on a scale of 0 to 10 where 0 means it is totally absent and 10 means it is in obvious and undeniable presence.
• What about the other members of your team, how would they score, individually?
• What about them collectively, as a team? What is their score?
• How are you going to increase the DD quotient? Inspire or replace?
