The Success Trap

The success trap happens when our apparent success imprisons us and stops us getting to the next level. There is always another level!

For example, when we are so busy working in the business to make it successful that we don’t have the time or energy to recruit the people necessary to support that level of performance. We become trapped.

When we build an organisation that can only succeed when we are across everything all the time and we can’t take a holiday. We become trapped.

When we think we are the only people in the world who can make the decisions, provide the answers and when we think we are indispensable, we become trapped.

When we start to focus on preserving the status quo rather than growing we become trapped.

When we start thinking about avoiding costs rather than investing in the future, we become trapped.

When we start playing not to lose rather than playing to win, we become trapped.

So the questions for today are:

• In how many ways is what you are building today a trap rather than a gateway to a better future?
• Where do you need to elevate your thinking ?
• Are you really playing not to lose, rather than playing to win?
