Loose Screw

If you have founded, own or lead a business you must have a screw loose. Why would any sound minded person want to put themselves through an ordeal like that?

We often joke about it but even if you are not mad, you are certainly different. You have chosen the road less travelled. The percentage of people who choose to found, own or lead a business is very small and the road is less travelled because it is so testing and dangerous.

You will experience dozens of obstacles and dangers, some of our own making, along the way. It seems that everything is against you as you battle for the right to create something that will benefit the community and the country. The failure rate is brutally high, just to survive and the odds are stacked massively against thriving.

Given the perilous nature of the route that you have chosen, doesn’t it make sense to do everything that you possibly can to decrease the risks and increase the chances of surviving so you can go on to thrive?

So the questions for today are:

• What are the risks that you cannot yet see?
• Are you actively scouting the route ahead or just reacting to what crops up?
• In what way are you ‘digging the well before you get thirsty’?
• How could you prepare better?
