Never Wish
“Never wish life were easier. Wish that you were better” is a well known piece of wisdom from the great Jim Rohn.
Tonight I am attending a webinar on the rising amount of anxiety in humanity during these ‘troubled times’.
As a resident of the UK I am confounded by the government’s ineptitude and the ever increasing burden they seem to be placing on the business community. As a business owner it would be easy to let the feeling of overwhelm dominate and crush our ability to survive, let alone thrive.
I keep coming back to these words of timeless wisdom and realise that the only way forward is to get better, which means to change, and we all know that change is hard. To operate at a high level and then to change and still operate at a high level is harder still. None of us can do this on our own, but as Jack Welch once said, ‘If the rate of change on the outside exceeds the rate of change on the inside, the end is near.’
We need to constantly reinvent ourselves and our businesses. It was only 4 short years ago that the world was plunged into a global pandemic. My lasting memory of that was that the best businesses pivoted, adapted and displayed absolute resilience and came out of the pandemic stronger than they went in. everyone of my clients did. In my opinion this is as much a consequence of mindset as anything else. We all need to be able to find that same mindset today and every day.
So the questions for this week are;
- Where are you finding new and effective sources of energy and inspiration today?
- What are you doing to accelerate change on the inside?
- How hard are you working to get better?
- Who are you learning from?
