Scaling Up The Real Challenge

The real challenge in scaling a business, isnt driving more sales. Not really. That is usually just a marketing challenge. More often than not the market is way bigger than the company can either service or manage.

The challenge for growth and scaling up therefore does not lie in the market, but especially in the continuous internal organisation and alignment of the company. Failing to do this effectively will cap the growth of the business and stop the scale.

As I said last week when a business scales everything changes, and those changes do not happen in lockstep. There is a reason why the basic building block of all biological life, the cell, doesn’t grow to the size of a plate, or even a finger nail. There is also a reason why a mouse couldn’t grow to the size of an elephant. With scale, everything changes
